“Classic
Rock is still my roots and although we play a mix of true rock and modern rock
it is the Zeppelin and the music that has inspired me over the years.”
Larry
Lafferty began music in JR High &
High School [brass] and played for about 6 years and picked up the bass in 1970.
“After getting it together in a few garage bans, Bandit
(1972) and Xanadu
(1973) through the early seventies I found myself in a band formed in
about 1974, Brazos which stayed together for nearly 5 years.”
“In 1978 Tempest
was formed and then I got into some C&W bands like Gold
Rush and Mainstreet Texas and
performed with some other bands on stage throughout the eighties until Hourglass
was formed in 1988. This band is by
far the most talented group of musicians I’ve worked with and too my
abilities have been applied to the newer music we have chosen to cover.
We would like to work more of our original material into our shows.”
Larry’s
bass playing and his day job at Holt Equipment along with some grand children
keep him filled.
“Larry
Lafferty has been a stalwart, ever-present and mistake-free bassist …simply
the best I’ve ever played with." (Mike Cooper)
